Who says that the very valid reasons for voting for a political candidate must be distinct from your crush on him? NOT ME. The reasons and the crush are not, in fact, distinct, since the former all but make up the latter. (Though, yes, it doesn't hurt that he's tall.)
What follows is my honest reflection, and that of my friends, on how this man has reached us like no other presidential candidate in our lives--not only why he is so promising, but also why Hillary is less so. I believe the differences are documentable and highly relevant to this primary and to the general discourse about American politics.
I hope to be able to move on to Obama vs. McCain very soon, but we're not there yet. Barack the vote, yall!
I have and welcome criticism of Barack, me, and the rest of the candidates and the rest of us. There are some of us he has not reached, and those of us who support him still waver. Nonetheless, my instincts tell me that, if this man gets the popular mandate to lead our country, it means we love each other more than we knew.
